At Phoenix Mobile Veterinarians and Animal Hospital, we take pride in providing compassionate, high-quality veterinary care for dogs and cats—whether in the comfort of your home or at our modern full-service animal hospital in Scottsdale, AZ. One of the dedicated professionals leading our team is Dr. Mark Caldwell, a veterinarian whose deep Arizona roots, lifelong passion for animals, and extensive experience make him a trusted choice for pet parents across the Valley.

A Lifelong Commitment to Animal Care

Dr. Caldwell was born and raised in Arizona, where veterinary medicine has been part of his family for generations—his father is a small animal veterinarian in Tempe, and his grandfather served as a veterinarian for the U.S. Government. Some of his earliest memories are helping his dad at work, sparking a lifelong dedication to caring for animals.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science (with a minor in Chemistry) from the University of Arizona, where he also worked extensively in Thoroughbred breeding and foaling. A member of the UofA TriCats Triathlon Team, Dr. Caldwell balanced athletic discipline with hands-on veterinary training.

He went on to attend Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where he lived and worked at the Large Animal Research Center, caring for horses, dogs, pigs, cattle, and even white-tailed deer. His work and academic achievements earned him multiple honors, including the Francis Lucille Koss Memorial Award for excellence in both large and small animal medicine, the Society of Theriogenology Award for reproductive medicine, and membership in Phi Zeta, the national veterinary honor society.

Comprehensive Care for Dogs and Cats

Today, Dr. Caldwell provides veterinary care for dogs and cats in Scottsdale, Phoenix, Paradise Valley, and Mesa, offering both mobile appointments and in-clinic visits at our Scottsdale location at 8989 E. Via Linda, Suite 104, Scottsdale, AZ 85258. His expertise spans internal medicine, surgery, preventative care, and diagnostic lab work interpretation, but his approach to veterinary medicine goes beyond medical skill—he’s deeply committed to client education.
Dr. Caldwell believes that the more pet parents understand, the better care they can provide at home. This philosophy guides every exam, treatment plan, and conversation he has with his clients.

Life Beyond the Exam Room

When not caring for patients, Dr. Caldwell enjoys time with his wife, their two young sons, four dogs, one cat, and a flock of ten chickens. He’s an avid SCUBA diver, fisherman, and cook, and he has a passion for giving back through international veterinary volunteer work with Dr. Fornara. Their efforts have earned them the title of Kentucky Colonels from the Governor of Kentucky in recognition of their service.

Award-Winning Veterinary Excellence

Under Dr. Caldwell’s leadership, Phoenix Mobile Veterinarians and Animal Hospital has been recognized as the Best Animal Clinic in Phoenix Magazine’s Best of the Valley Awards for both 2024 and 2025. These honors reflect the compassionate, expert-level care our clients experience at every visit—whether at home or in our hospital.
