At Phoenix Mobile Veterinarians and Animal Hospital, we are proud to have a team of compassionate, highly skilled doctors who care deeply for the pets and families they serve. One of those trusted veterinarians is Dr. Kristin Fornara, an Arizona native with a lifelong dedication to helping animals and a passion for providing the highest level of care to dogs and cats in our community.

An Arizona Legacy of Animal Care

Dr. Fornara’s family has deep roots in Arizona, moving here even before it became a state. Her love for animals began at just three years old when her favorite game was “Animal Hospital” with her stuffed animals. Growing up on her family’s ranch, she cared for a variety of pets and livestock, including dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, a horse, a pig, a cow, and a chicken.
Her natural compassion extended to rescuing and rehabilitating injured or abandoned animals, often convincing her parents to let her give them a forever home. This early dedication set the stage for a veterinary career built on empathy, skill, and client trust.

From Education to Leadership

Dr. Fornara earned her bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness from Arizona State University before pursuing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine through St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine and The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

After returning to Arizona, she began her veterinary career at the same clinic where she once worked as a technician—a full-circle moment that reflected her commitment to lifelong learning. Her talents and leadership quickly led her to a Medical Director position at a sister clinic, and later to serve as Medical Director and lead veterinarian at an AAHA-accredited small animal hospital in the East Valley for nearly a decade.

It was during this time that she met her husband, Dr. Mark Caldwell, and together they shared a vision: to provide a higher level of personalized, client-focused veterinary care. This vision became reality with the founding of Phoenix Mobile Veterinarians.

A Vision for Modern Veterinary Care

Today, Dr. Fornara provides mobile (at-home) veterinary services throughout the Phoenix Valley as well as in-clinic appointments at our Scottsdale animal hospital, located at 8989 E. Via Linda, Suite 104, Scottsdale, AZ 85258.
She is particularly passionate about canine and feline dentistry, including oral surgery, and also enjoys soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, preventative care, and diagnostic lab interpretation. She believes in explaining the “why” behind every recommendation, creating a collaborative approach that empowers pet owners to make informed decisions about their dog’s or cat’s health.

Beyond the Hospital

When not helping pets and their families, Dr. Fornara enjoys spending time with Dr. Caldwell, their two young sons, and their many pets—four dogs, one cat, and ten chickens. Her favorite place to unwind is her family’s ranch, where they ride horses, work cattle, and fish. She also enjoys scuba diving, hiking, and cheering on her favorite sports teams.

Together with Dr. Caldwell, she participates in international animal volunteer work, combining their love for travel with their mission to help animals in need. Their efforts earned them the title of Kentucky Colonels, the highest honor awarded by the Governor of Kentucky.

Award-Winning Veterinary Excellence
Under Dr. Fornara’s co-leadership, Phoenix Mobile Veterinarians and Animal Hospital has been voted Best Animal Clinic in Phoenix Magazine’s Best of the Valley Awards for both 2024 and 2025. These recognitions are a reflection of the trust, compassion, and outstanding medical care that she and our entire team bring to every appointment—whether in your home or at our hospital.

If you’re looking for the best veterinarian for dogs and cats in Scottsdale, Phoenix, Paradise Valley, or Mesa, Dr. Fornara and our team are ready to welcome you and your pet.
